Jo Malone – Blue Agave & Cacao Cologne is one of my favorite perfumes at the moment. When I first sniffed it, I was amazed at how different the scent is. It is nothing I have in my collection of perfumes and it is nothing I ever smelled before. The opening is sweet but a tiny bit sour at the same time. After a while the sourness disappears and you are left with a very warm scent. The official description of the perfume:
The rhythm of Latin music — sexy, edgy and persuasive. Fresh limes and zesty grapefruit dance over a heart of blue agava flower. Sea salt cuts through the primitive rawness of cacao to reveal the sensuality of vetiver, cinnamon and musk. A provocative fragrance.
It is always funny to read the descriptions of scents and all the notes. Sometimes I do not smell one single note or I just can not describe / specify what I smell. I couldn’t say that I smell grapefruit in the Blue Agave & Cacao perfume. There is something fresh, but the sweetness messes with my head and my perception of scents. I have no idea how the agave flower smells like, so I do not know if I can detect it. The cinnamon in this perfume definitely isn’t overpowering, since I can’t smell it (and I love cinnamon). As I said … very lovely perfume. Sexy, edgy, persuasive and provocative? In my opinion … Yes!
The outer packaging is very cute with the black bow. The bottle (small version) itself is very simple and nothing special.
I love this perfume. The scent lasts on me very long time and it is so unique. I would wear it all the time if I would have the bigger bottle. Since this is my very first Jo Malone perfume and the Jo Malone perfumes aren’t cheap, I only bought the small bottle (I bought it in Paris). But when I run out of it, I’ll buy a bigger bottle.
The cool thing about the Jo Malone perfumes is that you can layer them. Well, you can layer all your perfumes, but these are sold as “layering perfumes”, so you get ideas from the sales person (or the web site) which scents are nice to layer on top of each other. I loved the combination of Blue Agave & Cacao Cologne with the Lime Basil & Mandarin Cologne. Mmm … I loved them together and I loved them separately. Lime Basil & Mandarin Cologne is definitely on my wish list!
