After not so exciting winter collections, I was really glad to see interesting limited editions for spring. :w00t:

China Glaze’s sailor collection called Anchors Away is gorgeous. It was hard to resist all those beauties, but in the end I chose First Mate, White Cap and Sea Spray while Maestra picked up Ahoy! and Starboard.

I knew Sea Spray would be mine as soon as I saw promo pictures. I love the combination of blue and gray color. And since I was determined to show you gray and blue side of this polish, I spent a lot of time photographing this shade. :biggrin:

I find this polish intriguing whether it looks blue (shade) …

… or grayish (artificial light).

Finish is a little bit complicated. Polish applies similar as pastel ones (but better) and it looks creme. Then came the shock. I was eating lunch with Maestra, when she asks me how I like the shimmer. What shimmer? Sea Spray actually has tiny shimmer that reminds me of particles found in metallic polishes.

I know dark creme blue polishes are nothing spectacular, but I fell in love with  First Mate on the spot. :wub: I would say this is almost perfect dark blue for me. I used one coat + top coat as polish is really pigmented and applies nicely. What I did not like is the visible tip wear the same day I applied it. I’ll try with 2 coats next time to see it that makes a difference.

What intrigues me the most in White Cap polish is interesting shimmer suspended in milky white jelly base. Sparkle is combination of regular shimmer/glitter and flakies. You can see gold, green, coppery-orange sparkles. And when I applied White Cap on nail wheel I saw that there are blue particles hiding in there too.

I wondered if I could use White Cap for layering, so I applied it over all the polishes in Anchors Away collection we ordered.

I’ll definitively be buying more shades from this collection. If nothing else then I’m getting Maestra’s Ahoy!. :biggrin:

Ahoy! is probably the most popular shade in this collection. It’s a raspberry shade with jelly base and irregularly shaped gold glitter. Interesting shade. I totally understand, why people love it. But I’m not crazy about it. Yes, I like it, but that’s it.

I wondered how Ahoy! would look like layered over black and how it’s compared to OPI’s Let Me Entertain You from the Burlesque collection. Here’s the comparison.

Let Me Entertain You is darker, which is a good thing for me. It also has glitter that flashes purple. All in all I like LMEY better.

Starboard is a grass green shade with creme finish. It’s perfect shade of green. Not too yellow toned and not too blue toned. There are two coats in the photo below.

I couldn’t find a dupe for Starboard in my collection of nail polishes. Ciate’s Stilletto is the closest I have.

What are your thoughts on this collection? Any favorites?

Po ne preveč zanimivi zimi, so me spomladanske kolekcije prav navdušile. :w00t:

China Glaze in njihova mornarska kolekcije Anchors Away mi je prav pisana na kožo. Sem se morala zelo, zelo potruditi, da nisem kupila večine lakov. Na koncu sem izbrala First Mate, White Cap in Sea Spray, Maestra pa se mi je pridružila pri nakupu z Ahoy! in Starboard odtenkoma.

Za Sea Spray sem takoj vedela, da bo moj. Zanimiva kombinacije modre in sive me je takoj pritegnila. Želela sem vam pokazati tako sivkasto kot modrikasto plat tega lepotca, tako da se sem se na koncu najbolj namučila s fotografiranjem ravo tega odtenka. :biggrin:

Odtenek je čudovit, ne glede na to ali prevladuje modra (senca) …

… ali siva (umetna svetloba).

Pri finišu se malo zaplete. Lak se nanaša podobno kot pastel laki (a lepše) in izgleda krem. Potem me pa Maestra med kosilom vpraša kako mi je všeč šimer. Kakšen šimer? Lak ima dejansko nekakšen droben šimer, ki mene še najbolj spominja na drobne delce, ki jih vidimo v lakih s kovinskim finišem.

Vem, da temno modri odtenki niso nič spektakularnega, vendar se mi je First Mate takoj priljubil. :wub: Bi skoraj rekla, da je tole zame idealna temnejša modra. Uporabila sem 1 plast in nadlak. Ja, zelo dobro je pigmetiran in se tudi lepo nanaša. Zmotilo me je, da sem še isti dan imela bele (“zlizane”) konice. Bom naslednjič uporabila dve plasti, da vidim, če bo kaj boljše.

Pri White Cap odtenku me je najbolj pritegnil zanimiv šimer. V mlečno belo jelly osnovo so ujete krpice in šimer. V laku tako vidimo vse od zlate, zelene, bakreno-oranžne barve …

Zanimalo me je, kako se White Cap obnese kot layering lak, zato sem ga nanesla čez vse lake iz Anchors Away kolekcije, ki sem jih imela na voljo. Šele na nail wheelu so se razkrili tudi modri drobci v laku.

Zagotovo si bom kupila še katerega lepotca iz te kolekcije. Maestra me je premamila z Ahoy! lakcem … :biggrin:

Ahoy! je verjetno najbolj popularen odtenek iz kolekcije. Gre za odtenek maline, ki ima “jelly” osnovo, v kateri so zlate bleščice nepravilnih oblik. Zelo posrečen. Jasno mi je, zakaj je toliko ljudem všeč. A mene ni obnorel. Ja, saj mi je všeč, a mi vseeno ni “všeč za umret”.

Zanimalo me je kako bo Ahoy! izgledal nanesen čez črn lak ter kako se podoben je OPI Let Me Entertain You laku iz Burlesque kolekcije.

Let Me Entertain You je temnejši, kar mi je všeč, in ima bleščice, ki se posvetijo na vijolično. LMEY mi je bolj všeč kot Ahoy.

Starboard je travnato zelen odtenek s krem finišem. Perfekten odtenek zelene. Ne preveč rumen, ne preveč moder. Na fotografiji sta dve plasti.

V svoji zbirki nisem našla dvojnika. Najbližji mu je Ciate – Stiletto, ki pa je temnejši.
