It is that time of the year again. Catrice is bringing out new products. There are a couple of very exciting products in the new lineup. I was very curious to swatch and test the new eyeshadow palettes. Also the ombre lipsticks are interesting and fun. And an affordable slim eyebrow pencil?! Yes, please. But are they any good? I have swatches and my very first impressions for you.
The stars of the show are definitely the new eyeshadow palettes. There are four color combinations.
- The Essential Nude (neutral shades, mattes and shimmers)
- The Modern Matt (rose and grey shades, mattes)
- The Nude Blossom (dusty pink and neutral shades, mattes and shimmers)
- The Precious Copper Collection (warm brown tones, shimmers)
The color selections of all four of them are beautiful. There are nine eyeshadows in each palette. I have swatches of The Essential Nude Collection and The Precious Copper Collection. The palettes are very well made. The packaging feels sturdy and “heavy” in the hands. They are made in Italy, which makes me happy since some of the limited edition eyeshadow palettes made in PRC were truly poor quality. These have great potential. I’ve only tried each of them once, so you’ll have to wait for my final thought a bit longer, but so far … I really like them.
The Precious Copper Collection* is a warm toned palette with nine gorgeous colors. The down side is there are no mattes in this palette. Only shimmers, borderline glitters. These look beautiful on the lids, but are very shimmery. They look almost wet. The formulation is the same to the shimmers in the nude palette. Buttery soft (read below). I will have to play more with it to form my final thoughts about the color selection. Other than that it is a great palette for shimmer lovers who like their warm tones.
The Essential Nude Collection is a neutral eyeshadow palette with five “matte” shades and four shimmers. The matte finish is more satin than true matte. The shimmers are very shimmery and give almost wet look to the eyes. There are five light, pale shades. Three of them are shimmery. One transition shade, which is matte. You also get three dark(er) shades. I am not sure that there is the need for so many light shades in one palette. Instead I wish they would have included at least one more transition color. But that is just my preference. All shades are either neutral or warm. The pigmentation is very good. The dark shades aren’t the easiest to blend. Be warned. Fall-out alert. Nothing major though. Still … I really like the palette. It is a nice basic palette to have and it compliments The Precious Copper Collection very well, since the later doesn’t have a single matte shade.
Slim’Matic Precise Brow Pencil
I love slim pencils to fill in my eyebrows. They are precise and it is very easy to draw short and thin strokes with it. The end result is somewhat more natural. My concern with this particular product is that the formula is a bit too soft. Which ends up in product breaking very easily. I also feel like I will use it up very quickly.
Ombre Two Tone Lipstick*
Fun and interesting product. It is supposed to make ombre lips easy as it has dark shade in one corner and complimentary light shade elsewhere. Fun concept. Does it work? On the top lip it is indeed easy. The trickier part is the bottom lip, where you have to turn the lipstick. The end result on my very thin lips wasn’t very obvious, but you can still see it. The formula is nice and creamy. It is very comfortable on the lips.
Would you like to see more swatches of the new products by Catrice? If so, please let me know in the comments which ones?
