Yes, another Essence Trend Edition. And this time it’s called Surfer Babe. I don’t know if I’m happy with another TE or am I just tired of all these new Essence trend editions. I mean, I like new colors and everything, but I’m tired of hunting them down. Luckily I have my ladies who help me a lot with the hunting. This time it was our Mamy who found and bought Surfer Babe polishes for us Parokeets ladies. Thank you, Mamy! I only got two of the polishes for myself, that’s why Mamy and Gejba had to help with the swatches so you can read a review of the whole collection.
There are four nail polishes in the collection.
Here are Mamy’s four Surfer Babe nail polishes:
My favourite is The World’s Coolest. It may not be the world’s coolest but sure is lovely color. It’s too blue to be a mint green and it’s too green to be called blue. I don’t know. It’s just lovely.
The consistency is jelly-like, but it’s not a true jelly. Because of the jelly-like consistency the opacity isn’t the greatest. I did two coats but three would be better.
I compared TWC to my other mint greens and I don’t have a dupe in my stash. China Glaze – For Audrey and Essie – Mint Candy Apple came the closest but are obviously not dupes.
I applied one coat of For Audrey and Mint Candy Apple on top of The World’s Coolest polish to show you the difference.
A bonus photo of The Wold’s Coolest …
Next is another nice polish named Pointbreak. The name reminds me of a surfer action movie with Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. Just some random thought … Well, Pointbreak is creme gray polish. Nothing much to say about it. It’s a nice color and the application was good too. Two coats shown in the pictures below.
Again I went through my stash to find a possible dupe, but again no luck. Below are shown Pointbreak vs. Catrice – London’s Weather Forecast vs. Ciate Paint Pozs – Vintage.
On the nail though Catrice would come close if there wasn’t the shimmer …
That’s it from me… But read on please, here comes the part where Mamy and Gejba helped with the review and the swatches.
Polish no. 01 Surferama, classical cyclamen color is quite pigmented but not opaque enough that it could be used for konadicures. Two layers, no top coat, creme finish.
No.03 is called Hang Loose. Very pale lilac color that is also quite pigmented. I used two layers without top coat. Finish is creme. I found this color to be quite dull. I had to use flash to capture the most realistic shade.
I have for you comparison between Surferama and few other berry shades from my collection. I compared following polishes: Gabrini 381, Essence Mr. Big (nail art twins), Essence Surferama and Essence Very Berry (Jelly Baby).
If other shades are close relation, then Surferama is cold cousin. It’s still part of the same color family, but with cooler undertone. Surferama is more sedate color than other berry shades I compared it with. All were easy to apply except for Very Berry polish which consistency turned really weird. I used two coats.
I would recommend you get yourself Surferama and pick only one from the rest of the gang. :D
