Essie has a new collection for summer coming up. :w00t: There are six of them in the bunch, but I have only five to show you today.
Lovie Dovie – “The perfect true flamingo pink nail polish for summer.“
There were discussions on the Slovenian part of the blog, whether this is really the true flamingo color. Some said no, most of them said that there are flamingos like this. The last time I saw flamingos in Disneyland Florida, they looked like this…
No matter what we call this shade, it isn’t my favourite pink at all. Believe it or not, but I don’t have a similar shade in my whole stash.
Funny Face – “Provocative fuchsia is the perfect nail polish shade for the beach.“
This is indeed fuchsia shade. It’s a really pretty color. No application issues. There are two coats shown in the picture.
I ran through my stash and I found one nail polish that is really close to the color of Funny Face and one that is similar but not identical.
N.Y.C.’s – Fuchsia Shock Creme is almost a dupe for Funny Face. Essence – Flashy Pink is similar but you can tell even from the picture that they are not dupes. Flashy Pink has more coral tint to it in comparison to Funny Face.
Not Just A Pretty Face – “Naturally nude nail polish with pinkish hues.”
This one is opaque nude shade with quite a lot of pink tint to it. I like it a lot, although it doesn’t match my skin tone perfectly. There are two coats shown in the picture.
Essence’s Tool Of Attraction from the Trend Edition Sweet Temptation is the one and only shade in my stash that comes even close to NJAPF. But Tool Of Attraction is darker.
Chubby Cheeks – “Sunset coral nail polish with hints of red.”
For me Funny Face isn’t coral but I’d say it is burnt orange. Or burnt orange with even more red tint to it. I don’t know… Maybe if you add enough red tint to coral shade, you get Chubby Cheeks color. :wassat: Chubby Cheeks is definitely special! :heart:
Cute As A Button – “This juicy persimmon delight nail polish is bright and vibrant.“
I don’t know if this one is really the color of persimmon, which look like this…

I compared Chubby Cheeks and Cute As A Button to China Glaze – Vintage Crepe in China Glaze – Atelier Tulle.
You can tell from the picture that these are different shades. So, not a single one is a dupe to another. Cute As A Button looks quite pink next to Chubby Cheeks. Vintage Crepe comes close to Chubby Cheeks but Vintage Crepe is more orange and lighter.
As I said before I don’t have all six shades from the collection. The one that’s missing is: Luscious Lips – “A sultry pink nail polish great for tips and toes.”
A few words to the collection. Color-wise the collection is nothing special. There is not a single unique shade in it. But all of the shades are pretty and for me Chubby Cheeks stands out. But it is strange in a good way that this is a Essie collection and there is not a single red or sheer in it and that is an improvement! :silly: Otherwise, pretty and safe colors. Another thing to stress is the application. I mean, it was spot on! All of the shades were perfect in only two coats! Congrats, Essie!

Pred nekaj dnevi sem naredila kratek uvod v novo kolekcijo za poletje 2009 znamke Essie. O tem si lahko preberete TUKAJ. Danes bom nadaljevala, kjer sem začela in predstavila še štiri odtenke iz te kolekcije. Tokrat bom vključila tudi nekaj primerjav.

Kaj pa vem, ali je to res prava flamingo roza. Morda obstaja kakšna vrsta flamingov, ki je res takšne roza barve, a na zadnje, ko sem videla flaminge, so izgledali nekako takole…
Kakor koli… flamingo gor ali dol… Gre za krem roza odtenek. Ni eden mojih najljubših roza odtenkov. Verjeli ali ne v moji zbirki ni niti enega podobnega roza odtenka. Na fotografiji sta dva nanosa.
Funny Face – “Provocative fuchsia is the perfect nail polish shade for the beach.”
Opis ne laže, saj gre resnično za krem odtenek fuksije. Lepa barva in nobenih težav pri nanašanju. Na fotografiji sta dva nanosa.
V svoji zbirki sem našla en lak, ki se zelo zelo približa odtenku Funny Face in en lak, ki mu je podoben, a ni identičen.
N.Y.C. – Fuchsia Shock Creme je skoraj identičen odtenku Funny Face, medtem ko je Essence Flashy Pink nekoliko bolj koralna roza v primerjavi s hladno fuksijo.
Not Just A Pretty Face – “Naturally nude nail polish with pinkish hues.”
Polnoprekriven “nude” odtenek z dokaj močnim roza pridihom. Zelo lep odtenek, ki je sicer nekoliko preveč roza za mojo polt, a mi je vseeno zelo všeč. Na fotografiji sta dva nanosa.
Tool Of Attraction iz omejene izdaje Sweet Temptation znamke Essence je najbolj podoben zgornjemu odtenku, čeprav sta si res samo podobna in nikakor nista identična. Tool Of Attraction je temnejši.
Chubby Cheeks – “Sunset coral nail polish with hints of red.”
Chubby Cheeks zame ni koralen odtenek, ampak “burnt orange”, kot imenuje Wikipedija takšno barvo. Morda ima Chubby Cheeks še več rdeče v sebi kot “burnt orange”. Kaj pa vem… Morda če barvi korale dodaš dovolj rdeče, prav tako dobiš Chubby Cheeks barvo. Hmm… :wassat: Chubby Cheeks je vsekakor posebnež v tej kolekciji! :heart:
Še enkrat bo prilepila fotografijo odtenka Cute As A Button, zato da bodo vsi na kupu.
Sledi primerjava med odtenki: Essie – Cute As A Button, China Glaze – Vintage Crepe in China Glaze – Atelier Tulle.
Iz fotografije je razvidno, da so odtenki različni. Cute As A Button izgleda zelo roza v primerjavi s Cubby Cheeks. Vintage Crepe znamke China Glaze se približa Chubby Cheeks, čeprav je Vintage Crepe svetlejši in bližje pravi barvi pomaranče.
Kolekcija ni popolna. Manjka odtenek Luscious Lips – “A sultry pink nail polish great for tips and toes.”
Nekaj besed na splošno o kolekciji. Barvno gledano ni kolekcija čisto nič posebnega. Odtenek Chubby Cheeks je morda izjema. Po svoje je presenečenje, da v kolekciji ni nobene rdeče in nobenega prosojnega odtenka. Napredek! :silly: Sicer pa dokaj klasične in “varne” barve. Nič posebnega v tej kolekciji. Nanos pri vseh petih je bil popolnoma neproblematičen. Vsi so bili popolnoma prekrivni v dveh nanosih. Bravo, Essie!
Opisi v angleščini zraven imen odtenkov so prekopirani iz uradne Essie spletne strani. Kolekcija bo kmalu na voljo tudi pri nas v Čarodejki, ki ima prenovljeno spletno trgovino.

:think: I do like Chubby Cheeks. They all look like something I’ve seen before. I’ve seen so many different colors since reading all of these nail blogs. I don’t know what I would want that’s so different. I guess all the matte shades that are coming out are different. Otherwise everything looks like a repeat. Just the names have changed.
wixbetty, thank you for your comment! And trust me, I now how you feel… I read nail polish blogs every day and look at all those pretty pictures of all those pretty colors… and I can say, my wallet doesn’t appreciate it at all :silly:
NJAPF really surprised me in a good way. I’m just not a “nude person”, but this one is so nice. CAAB is just hot! I have a lot of corals and pink-corals in my stash, but there is no dupe in sight.
While I usually steer clear of nudes, “Not Just a Pretty Face” looks like it might complement my skintone nicely.
And “Cute as a Button” looks unique enough to try for summer.
I have to tell you, your lovely nails make everything look like something I want to try, even colors I would never otherwise consider…Can’t say whether this is a good thing or not. =]
